Kais Al-Essa
Founder and Technical Manager, Sahara Net
Kais Al-Essa started his own company, Sahara Net, back in 1989. He
graduated KFUPM as a bachelor of science (BSc) holder in Computer
Engineering with a minor in Networking. Then joined Saudi Aramco, the
largest oil company in the world, for 5 years. After that he joined full
time his newly formed company which was licensed as an ISP in Saudi
Arabia among the first five ISPs.
Kais Al-Essa lead Sahara Net to be the first to provide any sort of
Internet services in Saudi Arabia back in 1994. He actively participates
in several groups such as MENOG, Saudi Council of Engineers, IEEE and
several other organizations. He is an enthusiast of Internet
proliferation in the Arab world and an activist in the eGovernment
arena. He has published several articles and made many interviews on
these topics.
